Federal Benefits

Federal Veteran’s Benefits:

Disability Compensation:  This is a monthly benefit paid tax free to veterans who are at least 10% disabled because of injuries of diseases that were incurred in or aggravated during active duty or training.  The disability may be physical or mental in nature.  It is based upon certain eligibility requirements and medical documentation.  Please contact the VSO or check out our link to determine if you qualify for this compensation.

Home Loan Programs:  Veterans may be able to obtain a home loan guaranty benefit and other housing-related benefits to help build, repair, retain or adapt a home for the veteran’s personal use.  The loans are provided by private lenders, such as banks or mortgage companies, but the VA guarantees a portion of the loan, allowing the lender to provide the veteran with more favorable terms.  Please contact the VSO or check out our link to determine if you qualify for this benefit.

Pensions:  Veterans may qualify for a Veteran’s Pension which is payable to low-income veterans, tax-free.  Survivors may qualify for a Survivor’s Pension which is payable to low-income survivors of veterans who remain un-remarried or their unmarried children.  Please contact the VSO or check out our link to determine if you qualify for this benefit.

Life Insurance:  There are several veteran’s agencies which provide life insurance to veterans.  To see which one will best suit your circumstances, please contact the VSO or check out our links to determine the one best for you.
